USWNT looking nervy on the ball
The U.S. looks a little nervy on the ball to start as Brazil is pressuring them hard quite high up the field.
They want to keep the U.S. pinned back and they want to break out of their own end quickly - no low blocks here, although that wasn't expected.
It does look like it's going to be the fast, open, physical game you'd expect from two teams going full send in pursuit of a gold medal, but perhaps slightly more so from Brazil at the moment.
Fighting for the ball
Goalless so far.
Combative out there!
Two important clearances!
10' USWNT 0-0 Brazil
The USWNT have grown into this game nicely.
Brazil defenders are forced to clear dangerous low crosses first from the American left side, then the right. Both corners are dealt with.
The latter chance came after a gorgeous turn from Trinity Rodman in midfield.
Better from the USWNT!
7' USWNT 0-0 Brazil
This is brighter from the USWNT.
Forward Sophia Smith, in fine form, has a snapshot from outside the box, easily gathered by Lorena.
Then Smith goes down, admittedly a little easily, right on the edge of the box looking for a free-kick.
Nothing doing.
Great chance for Ludmila!
4' USWNT 0-0 Brazil
Already a brilliant chance for Brazil!
It was shaky play at the back from centre-backs Naomi Girma, who has been so good at this tournament, and Tierna Davidson.
Girma had the ball taken off her toes, it was poked through with the outside of the right boot to the onrushing forward Ludmila, who suddenly had an opening.
With a defender at her back, the contact on the ball was slightly rushed and not as clean as she'd have liked.
Smothered by Alyssa Naeher. Either side of the goalkeeper and Naeher would have had a problem! Ludmila has to do better there.
It may have been offside, though...

Uncertain start from the USWNT
3' USWNT 0-0 Brazil
Only a few minutes in and the USWNT have started a little nervously.
Three USWNT legends
American soccer royalty!
Early pitch invader trouble
Just before kick-off, a pitch invader tried to make their way onto the pitch at the Parc des Princes.
Feels like there are so many more of them these days.
Anyway, they were escorted off pretty quickly.
To the football, then!

The players are out!
Anthems: done.
Handshakes: done.
Megan Rapinoe: hyped.
Nearly into the action!
'Let's go get what's ours'
American basketball coach Dawn Staley is pumped!
She posts on X: "@USWNT. LET’S GO GET WHAT’S OURS…..GOLD! @emmahayes1 you are the woman! Let’s gooooooo! I’m soooo freaking hyped!"
What a banging tune
This is how we know it's a final: Gala is actually here to perform Freed From Desire live.
It's been the anthem of the Olympics (and women's soccer for a while), so it's the perfect ridiculousness for this match.
USWNT's lack of major final experience?
Only two USWNT starters (Alyssa Naeher and Crystal Dunn at the 2019 World Cup) have appeared in a major tournament final before
That is the fewest in any final starting XI for the USWNT since the 1991 World Cup Final (none), the first in team history.
Thanks to our friends at Opta for that stat.
Full line-up: USWNT
So as Emily pointed out earlier, it's just the single change for the USWNT, Korbin Albert replacing Rose Lavelle in midfield. Their full line-up?
USWNT (4-3-3): Alyssa Naeher; Emily Fox, Naomi Girma, Tierna Davidson, Crystal Dunn; Korbin Albert, Sam Coffey, Lindsey Horan; Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson, Sophia Smith.

How Emma Hayes brought fun to the Olympics: Karaoke, Lego and nails
A karaoke machine has played a key role in keeping the U.S. women’s national team loose through this Olympics run.
Ahead of the gold-medal match against Brazil here in the French capital on Saturday, through a tournament that has felt like an intentional exercise in suffering, Emma Hayes and captain Lindsey Horan’s pre-game press conference quickly, and delightfully, derailed into debating who was the best performer on the mic.
“It’s between Mal (Swanson) and Rose (Lavelle),” Hayes said, adding they have “the Taylor Swift moves.”
Horan and Hayes couldn’t help but laugh when asked what their own go-to songs would be. Hayes playfully pushed at Horan’s shoulder saying she’d never seen her perform. It’s not in Horan’s plans (without the influence of certain beverages anyway), but her pick was Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You”.
And for Hayes? Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby”. An old standby, apparently.
While the debate was a fun respite the day before the tension of a major tournament final, it was more than just refreshing to see. At the previous Olympics in Japan three years ago, the main outside critique was that the U.S. women were playing without any joy. That has not been a problem this time around.

Megan Rapinoe in the house
Megan Rapinoe's been floating around Paris catching games since the quarterfinal against Japan, but today she's got some new company.
Both Tobin Heath and Ali Krieger have joined her for today's final at Parc des Princes.
Great musical vibes in Paris
It's still early, but as someone who has been in arenas/venues for basketball, gymnastics, rock climbing, 3x3 basketball, among others... Parc des Princes by far has the best musical vibes thus far.
It's still early, and perhaps I've spoken too early, but I've yet to hear Call Me Maybe or the late 90s dance hit "Freed From Desire," which has become the song of the 2024 Olympic Games.
I hope Gala Rizzatto is somewhere getting paid big bucks for her contributions to these Games.
