Hello Engineering and Applied Sciences community! We’ve got a lot in store for you this Fall semester, so keep your eyes peeled for the various events, job opportunities, articles, internship postings, and more that we’ll be sending your way. Employer Road Trip: Optimax! | Monday, October 14, 2024 9:15am – 1:30pm EDT

Join us for an engaging site visit at one of our most innovative local employers, Optimax! Optimax is the largest optics manufacturer in the United States. Their optics products are used in government, defense, and aerospace.

Itinerary for the visit:

9:15 a.m. Meet promptly at Rush Rhees bus loop on Library Rd. (behind iZone)
9:25 a.m. Bus departs for Optimax
10 a.m. Arrive at Optimax
10:15 – 10:40 a.m. Presentation of Optimax
10:40 – 11:30 a.m. Group tours of Optimax
11:30 – 11:45 a.m. Mingle with team and Optimax engineers (snacks and drinks provided!)
11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Q & A /networking with Optimax engineers and students
1:30 p.m. Return to campus

Required dress is business casual (please no t-shirts, distressed pants, jeans). Do your research on Optimax before the road trip so you can be best prepared to engage and ask questions.

Simon Games Information Session | Thursday, October 24, 2024 5:00pm – 6:00pm EDT

Simon Business School is hosting a virtual business simulation—Simon Games—November 7–21, and current University of Rochester seniors interested in Simon’s MS programs—including our new MS in AI in Business—are encouraged to register and play for a chance to win a full-tuition scholarship! Participants will gain practical skills in industry analysis and strategic decision-making and will engage in experiential learning to help them build a résumé that stands out.

Prospective MS candidates will compete within the same challenge but face off against a computer. Top performers will be invited to the Games’ final round, a virtual Report to the Board, on December 7, where they will present their ideas to a panel of Simon faculty, staff, current students, and alumni.All finalists are guaranteed scholarship support, and the grand prize winner will receive a full-tuition scholarship if they apply, are admitted, and enroll at Simon in 2025.
